Roche Wines

The History

In the Hunter Valley’s heart, just at the point where Broke Road breaks at McDonalds Road in Pokolbin you will find the home of Roche Wines. This premium wine company began in 1997 when the Roche family acquired the historic Tallawanta Shiraz Vineyard, regarded as one of the best in the region.

The Vineyards

Encapsulating the true elegance and charm of Hunter wine styles, the vines of the Tallawanta Vineyard date back to the early 1890s and produce the award-winning Roche Tallawanta Shiraz.

Continuously creating outstanding fruit each year, the vines are dry land grown, thus ensuring low yields and high quality fruit. The vineyard soil is quite typical of the Hunter Valley with a mixture of Sandy Loam and Red Volcanic Clay.

Exquisite Semillon and Chardonnay grapes cover the landscape on either side of Broke Road and more recent additions to the property include the Stevens Old Vine Shiraz Vineyard and the development of Harrigan’s Hill Vineyard.

The Wines

The multi award-winning range of Roche Wines includes Sparkling Semillon, Semillon, Semillon Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Rosé and Shiraz. The highlight of the year will be the first release of the long awaited Roche Premium Reserve Shiraz.

The Cellar Door

Creators of the magnificent Hunter Valley Gardens, the Roche Family have always maintained a commitment to first class facilities in the Hunter.

In a joint venture with McGuigan Simeon Wines they built the award-winning Tempus Two Winery, home of Roche Wines and an awe-inspiring facility which creates a unique setting in Australia’s premier wine region.
